Nice to see the Davis family back to representing on the blog. Congrats to the Friars, especially the track squad. Today's post from this guy will be a quick and small one because I got picked to sit on a jury when I went to jury duty yesterday, and I have to show up at the Santa Ana Courthouse at 9:00 am instead of going to work in Costa Mesa at 9:30 am. I hope it's interesting.
So, yesterday was my official MLB debut for Nick Adenhart, as we all decided to forget about his real MLB debut. Once again, Nickie had a solid first inning, and then fell apart in the second. Do I smell relief pitching in your future? Maybe closing? Some bad pitches, some shaking off of Mathis, and the Royals posted two on the freshman in the second frame. They'd get another one in the third, and the Silver Sprigs, MD native was lifted after just 4.3 innings of 6 hit 3 run ball. He struck out 3, but he was walk happy again, giving up 5 free passes. On a really positive note, Nick lowered his ballon-esque ERA to 11.37 from about 22. Nick gave way to Darren Oliver, who inherited two runners and allowed zero to score (this guy has been seemingly so money since the '07 All-Star break). He would get the win after his 1.67 innings of relief, and was followed by a shaky Speier, a solid Shields, and another perfect inning of Frankie for save number 14 on the year. The Angels offense was another weirdo lineup due to some infield injuries. With Howie, Ma$e, and Figgins all out with injuries, it was Sean "HR-Rod" Rodriguez and Brandon Wood getting the starts at second and third respectively. This game was different than many others, as the big part of the lineup was finally getting some smack. No player got more knocks than my boy and Los Angeles, CA native Garret Anderson, ripping three hits and driving in all of the Halo's five runs. Included in his solid night was a three run bomb, and write down that his other two RBI came with two outs. Yeah, that's big time. He was joined on a packed pancake bus by Erick Aybar (2 for 5, .310), Vlad "VAG" Guerrero (2 for 4, .264), Casey Kotchman (2 for 5, .333), Torri "The" Hunter (2 for 5, .310), and even the guy I've been watching since Rancho, "HR-Rod" (2 for 4, .286). Good for Rodriguez to be ripping at such a nice average in his rookie season with the big club. He didn't get much time at SLC, but he's been awesome here in the show. Overall, a nice, hard fought game by the AL West leaders.
At 22-13 (.629), the Angels continue to lead the A's by 1 game, and continue to best Seattle and Texas by a large 7.5 games. Our "#1" Jered Weaver (2-4, 4.36) will look to continue his amazing dealing against the Royals in his career in tonight's finale. Weav may be 2-2, but his 1.69 ERA is pretty darn strong. I may suggest that you hold onto your hats in this one folks, as Weaver has a 5.79 ERA on the road this season. However, he only gave up 2 earned runs in his first outing against the Royals this year, and hopefully the offense can pick him up on that one. KC counters with the surprise of Orlando, FL Zack Greinke (3-1, 1.47). His only loss this season was a 2-1 upset against Texas because his offense couldn't help him out. At home, ZG is 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA and a .208 opponent's batting average. Do I smell a pitching duel? Hopefully, because we know from experience in this series that the Angels will win a pitching duel (see victory with Ervin on the mound in game 1).
I'll walk off by apologizing for not having time to proofread this post, and by sharing an article on how the Canucks new GM Mike Gillis, is supposedly going to be utilizing the strategies of Money Ball to build this squad into a powerhouse.
Wish me luck on the jury. GUILTY! Ha; just getting in the mood.

Have fun with Jury duty man. And I would like to forget Adenharts MLB debut but I was at the game and it was pretty bad.
Go B. Wood!!
Karen and I were at that game too, so I know what you mean.
