Shameful 3rd period ends series, season.

If you read the LSF, you know that I'm not very long winded when it comes to posts regarding my teams being eliminated from the playoffs. I'm reminded of a "Fire Mike Scioscia" post after the Angels were beat by the Sox a couple of years ago. Losing in the playoffs isn't getting any easier, as we continue to suffer along with our teams, and tonight was no exception.

After the first forty minutes, the Canucks and Blackhawks were all tied up at 3. Jon and I were both full of hope with 20 to play in game 6. Sadly, for me, the Vannies played a back and fourth third period that ended in a Chicago explosion that finished off the season for the Blue & Green. You don't really win a game when you give up 7 goals, and you really don't go around giving up 7 goals in a game with your (literal) lives on the line. I believe I made the comment, "Who is that in goal tonight?" I mean, Lu got some tough breaks (see Alex Edler's own goal that gave Chicago the late lead), but he really could have played better out there, right?

In the end, the Hawks were the better team and move on to the Western Conference Finals. Meanwhile, Vancouver heads back to B.C. to start the offseason (a big one at that, with the possible departure of Ohlund, Hank, and Danny), and I enjoy suffering for one more year. Ah well. It really was a great season. See you in 2010 (but, actually, just later in 2009), Canucks.

Baseball season, currently 30 games in, officially starts tomorrow.
