World Cup Roundup Kubili

Thanks to Stone IPA from the tap at Silky's, our second (kubili in Zulu) World Cup post comes while I'm a little drunk. Enjoy it!

South Africa v Mexico

Man, was I pissed initially when they called offsides on El Tri early on! Then I learned the rules of soccer a little more closely, and I felt it was fair. In the end, it was an exciting start to the tournament. Rafael Marquez nailed a late equalizer after a nice Shamalamadingdong goal for the Bofana Bofana. 1-1 is fun!

Uruguay v France

I think the Uruguans made all of Ireland proud, battling France to a nil nil draw. Chances for both sides. Lodeiro became the first person to get sent off in the tournament, and the South American squad was able to hold off the frogs for the full 90. It was classic when Henry called for a hand ball in the box. Classic.

South Korea v Greece

I told you all that South Korea would come out of this group, and they handed out the biggest thumping so far, 2-0, to the economically ruined nation. A couple of pretty goals, too. Kimchee!!!

Argentina v Nigeria

Did you hear that Messi almost had a hat trick? Well, the Blue & White won 1-0, and Messi didn't have a single goal, be he almost had a hat trick. Kind of like Ichiro, like we discussed. Enyeama was a complete stud in goal for the African squad, and Oba Oba highlighted my Newcastle love with a couple of chances. Nice showing for Nigeria, really.

USA v England

What a freaking match. Awesome. A 1-1 draw is solid for us, and evidently "embarassing" for the Brits. Perfect. A point each, and our goal was so freaking sweet. Feck off to everyone who says Dempsey's goal was "lucky" or "a gift." Why are there so many Dempsey haters out there? The former Revs, current Fulham star has earned our love. Give it to him Speaking of the MLS, former Metrostar stud (not to mention Man U and current Everton boy) Tim Howard was off the charts. Being that I'm a Guzan fan, you can really take me seriously when I say that Howard earned my respect today. Not to mention my boy Altidore getting some manly chances. Good show, boys.

Friday against the Slovenian's should be a tough match.

Eye of the tiger.
