Rams are back up in first place.

The Rams busted up the Broncos 36-33 over the weekend, and in doing so have claimed a sweet piece of the first place pie with those loser Seahawks. Denver may have posted 20 points in the fourth quarter, but their comeback dreams failed, and the boys in the horns walked off the field with their heads held high.

See what hapens to teams who get busted for illegal viedo taping? Well, as long as that team isn't the Patriots. First the Broncos got busted by the NFL police, and then they got busted by Sam Bradford and the Ramies. After falling back 7-10 after the first quarter, everything went right for the Rams in the second as Billy Bajema (who?) caught 2 TD passes from Sam Brad and Josh Brown booted two field goals, putting us ahead by 13 heading into the half. Despite facing a comeback try, the Rams held the 'Cos back and won the game. With the stadium mostly empty, the Broncos had a chance to march down the field and win the game with 1:06 on the clock. The Rams held strong, forced a sack, a dropped pass, and a bad pass, and held strong for the win.

Despite the Rams getting 6 third down conversions to the Broncos 1, Denver did out-yard the Rams, but to no avail. 2 Denver turnovers to zero from my boys was the difference, and I'll take it. Bradford finished 22/37 for 308 with 3 TDs and 0 INTs, and looked great. Jackson had 72 on the ground, and Alexander led the way with 95 in the air. On defense, Atogwe and Murphy both forced fumbles, and Dahl led the way with 7 tackles. Kyle Orton also faced 3 sacks from the rush, as the Rams continued to show their improvements on defense (even if we did allow 33 points).

We're now 5-6. Sure, that doesn't sound very good at all, but this year it's good enough for a tie in first place of the NFC West. Meanwhile, the hard charging 9'ers are 1 game behind after busting Arizona on Monday Night Football. The key to our success is clearly our takeaway/giveaway numbers. We're sitting at +4, which is 10th in the league, and it's really our only positive team stat. Of course, compared the the rest of the NFC West, we're full of positives.

Before ending the post, I wanted to put the spotlight on TE Billy Bajema. I certainly hadn't heard of him so far this year, but he stepped into a scoring role against Denver this weekend. The Oklahoma State grad was originally drafted by the 49'ers in 2005 (overall pick 249), and has a career AV (approximate value) number of 6 (the 7,893rd best player since 1950!). In 6 games with the Rams so far this year, Billy has 11 catches, a 9.6 Y/R stat, and the aforementioned two TDs. He may only be the 40th ranked TE in the NFL, but he's easily having the breakout season of his career (+14 fantasy points on his career high, with 5 games to go, for all you nerds out there), and if the Rams can continue to figure out how to use him, he'll become a household name...in St. Louis.

The Rams get Arizona next weekend, and it's kind of a must win when you play a team in such shambles. The Red Birds are 3-8, they are coming off a horrible Nationally televised division loss, and they have a starting QB on the verge of losing his mind if you watch his interviews. The Rams are favored by 3 points, and I surely hope they win by much more than that. Back to back road wins sure would be nice.
