Get To Know A Goat: Alejandro Moreno.

It's time for the second installment in our "Get to Know a Goat" series, as we continue to learn all about the newest additions to the Chivas USA roster. After starting the series off with Marcos Mondaini, we now turn to the striker whose netter was our lone goal against Toronto over the weekend.

Name: Alejandro Moreno
Nickname: "The Blue Demon" (based on a Mexican wrestler of the same name)
Position: F
Number: 15

Age: 31
Height: 5'9
Weight: 170

Native of: Barquisimeto, Venezuela
Acquired: In a trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for allocation money (November 2010)
Teams: Los Angeles Galaxy, San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, Columbus Crew, Philadelphia Union, Vancouver Whitecaps (traded before playing a single game), and now Chivas USA

Career Stats: 47 goals in 246 matches
Chivas Stats: 180 minutes, 1 goal

The LSF's Take: I wasn't quite sure about Moreno until I saw him in action. Once you actually watch his play on the pitch, you see what kind of talent this guy is. He's a leader, a seriously solid ball handler, and knows how to take advantage of an opportunity. His goal against TFC was just the icing on the cake. On the downside, he just doesn't have any speed anymore. That became clear when he got chased down on a big breakaway last week. That being said, he's a force for the Red & White, if he plays to his strengths.

What Fraser Thinks: Moreno elevates the effort of the entire club according to our coach, "Everyone in the attacking end is better when Alejandro is there. He helps us in terms of making decisions and helps them in terms of where they need to be and what they need to be doing. He's a natural leader, who has played in a lot of situations."

So far, so good: While Moreno hasn't been on the pitch consistently this season due to International duty with the Venezuelan Nationals, he has had a positive impact every tim me he has been out there for us. His goal in the TFC game completely changed the mindset of this fan base, as he gave us something to cheer for and a positive to focus on. If he can keep up his leadership and contribute from time to time, he'll easily become a fan favorite around these parts.

We'll need to see some consistency on the part of Moreno before we can declare this trade with the expansion Whitecaps as an absolute success (I mean, we only gave them cash, so it's kind of a slam dunk) but at this point, it's hard to not see that happening. Alejandro is a fun player to watch, a life-long MLS career star, and a very welcomed addition to the Rojiblancos. Now let's just keep it up against the Crew this weekend.
